Why a Botanical Garden?
A botanical gardeN will help address our biodiversity issues
A botanical garden has a specific scientific mission. It is dedicated to the collection, cultivation, preservation, and display of a wide range of plants outside their natural habitat.
The La Salle Botanical Gardens (LSBG) will prioritize the conservation of native species of trees and other plants.
It is different from a park which is built primarily for its scenic attraction.
The La Salle Botanical Gardens (LSBG) will have many beautiful landscapes and picturesque sceneries, but all these will be guided by a scientific purpose – that of promoting and upholding our rich biodiversity.
In a botanical garden, ecological studies and researches can be done by professionals in scientific facilities. The La Salle Botanical Gardens (LSBG) will have laboratories, a herbarium, a seed bank, and libraries.
Botanical gardens also have environmental education as a primary purpose.
While parks may showcase the beauty of flowers and greens, botanic gardens are more about highlighting the value and benefit of plants.
Our dream is to put up a world-class botanical garden and to be a member of the International Association of Botanic Gardens.
