Hand in hand for native trees

“We hope to bring back our vanishing native tree species and local biodiversity.”

This was a key message from Atty. Allan Barcena, EDC Corporate Social Responsibility Head, last November 15, 2019, during the partnership signing ceremony between De La Salle Philippines (DLSP) and Energy Development Corporation (EDC) for the La Salle Botanical Gardens (LSBG).

DLSP, through the Lasallian Institute For the Environment (LIFE), will be collaborating with EDC’s BINHI Project for the conservation and protection of endangered Philippine native trees. BINHI is the greening program of the EDC, which aims is to restore denuded forests, preserve and propagate threatened native tree species, and protect biodiversity in the country.

“In environmental program and advocacy, partnerships are very important. Many development programs have been sustained because of strong collaborations among key stakeholders” said Mr. Warren Dollente, LIFE Director.

With this partnership, LIFE and BINHI will commence its joint efforts on knowledge sharing and showcasing and conservation of our native trees and local biodiversity within the LSBG.
